The Teacher Writing Institute is back! This online, noncredit, six-module program is NVWP's new version of the Summer Teacher Institute; a version that covers all the writing instruction theory, research and practices offered in the original course. Participants who complete the program will have a new perspective on teaching writing, as well as lessons and practices to bring to their classrooms. While noncredit, the Teacher Writing Institute offers up to 18 CEU's, and participants become part of the National Writing Project community as Teacher Consultants.
Interested teachers can register for the Teacher Writing Institute on the NVWP store, found on the Mason Marketplace site: (https://secure.touchnet.com/C20788_ustores/web/store_main.jsp?STOREID=131&SINGLESTORE=true. ).
There is no registration with the University required and the fees for the program are considerably lower than tuition courses. The program will meet during the late afternoon (3:30-6:30) to allow time for independent work during class times. We will meet twice a month in October, November and December for the fall session and February, March and April during the spring session.
Leslie Goetsch, director of the Northern Virginia Writing Project, will facilitate and teach the program. Please direct any questions to her: lgoetsch@gmu.edu.
