Register Now for Summer Teacher Writing Institute July 2024

The Northern Virginia Writing Project will return this summer with a digital summer Teacher Writing Institute. Designed to fit the scheduling needs of 21st-century teachers, this synchronous digital program will offer professional development to K-12 teachers looking to hone their skills in teaching writing.

Summer Writing Institute Dates: July 8 through 26th Tuesdays/Thursdays 9:00 am to 10:30 am

Cost: $500 per participant or $450 per participant with a cohort of at least 10 from the same school

The Teacher Writing Institute is a six-module asynchronous program that will be delivered on the Canvas platform.  Teachers may earn 18 CEU credits upon successful completion, and there is no university credit attached or registration fees involved. Teachers read, write about and discuss research on writing instruction, participate in a writing group leading to publication in a course anthology, and develop a professional development presentation that can be shared with colleagues, all as a part of the course.

Teachers emerge from the Teacher Writing Institute with new understanding of and practical plans to facilitate effective writing instruction at all levels, all disciplines.  They also become Teacher Consultants with the National Writing Project and have access to the research and community of teachers who are committed to teaching writing as a skill and learning tool.
